چکیده

CERES is a dilepton experiment at the CERN SPS, known for its observation of enhanced production of low mass ee pairs in collisions between heavy nuclei [ 1]. The fact that the excess pairs had invariant masses above approximately twice the pion mass and that the enhancement was absent in proton induced collisions [ 2] pointed towards pion annihilation ππ → ρ → ee as the additional source of lepton pairs. To fully account for the measured spectrum, however, the shape of the ρ peak needs to be modified. Theoretical models expect a shift of the peak to lower masses [ 3] or a broadening and a slight shift up [ 4] when ρ is immersed in high density hadronic matter. Testing the predictions of (and possibly distinguishing between) the two scenarios was among the objectives of the CERES upgrade. In this note I list several results of the ongoing analysis of the data from the last run of the upgraded CERES. For the sake of limited space two of the topics presented in the talk, the elliptic flow of Λ and the back-to-back correlations, are omitted. These results are described in detail in [ 5] and [ 6], respectively.

Near - Infrared Mapping and Physical Properties of the Dwarf - Planet Ceres

Aims. We study the physical characteristics (shape, dimensions, spin axis direction, albedo maps, mineralogy) of the dwarf-planet Ceres based on high-angular resolution near-infrared observations. Methods. We analyze adaptive optics J/H/K imaging observations of Ceres performed at Keck II Observatory in September 2002 with an equivalent spatial resolution of ∼50 km. The spectral behavior of the...

Ceres: software for the integrated analysis of transcription factor binding sites and nucleosome positions in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

MOTIVATION There is accumulating evidence that the chromatin environment of transcription factor (TF) binding sites in promoter regions has a critical influence on their regulatory potential. Recent studies have mapped TF binding sites and nucleosome positions throughout the yeast genome; however, there is a lack of computation tools to integrate these data types. RESULTS We have developed th...

شبیه‌سازی رشد، عملکرد، نیتروژن دانه و کارایی مصرف آب ارقام ذرت دانه‌ای با استفاده از مدل CERES-Maize

In this research, CERES-Maize crop model was calibrated, validated and evaluated for different maize hybrids under climatic conditions of Gonabad, east of Iran. For this purpose, an experiment was carried out based on a split-split plot randomized complete blocks design. Main factor consisted of three irrigation regimes (optimum irrigation, moderate drought stress, and severe drought stress), s...

Spectral Evidence for a Brucite-carbonate Alteration Assemblage on Ceres

Introduction: The dwarf planet Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt and is a primary target of NASA’s Dawn mission [1]. Recent modeling has shown that Ceres is likely differentiated and consists of a thin silicate+ice crust underlain by a thicker water ice mantle [2,3]. The presence of hydrated phases on Ceres, as inferred from the 3 μm absorption feature present in surface reflecta...
